Working in a bookstore I came across a book with this title. It got me thinking about the frivolousness of what men have turned spirituality into. I've had the words for a few years, but could never finish the music. I finally finished it in the summer of 2003 and recorded it in my living room on James Street I played all instruments and sang. I wrote and recorded the following songs between long intervals from 2000 to 2003. A couple were orginally intended for The Fallen Leaf Sessions compilation, but I ultimately decided to keep them together as they all reflect the same period of my life. They were recorded by Ron Cavagnaro at The Cave and also mixed there by Ron and myself. An album insert is in the works to release these as an ep entitled Escape Is By Water through Bland Entertainment. tracks:

In my second or third year of college I took a class on Shakespeare's dramas. For one group project we were to act out a scene from Twelfth Night in the classroom to better understand the Seventeenth Century theater stage and blocking techniques. The character I was to play was Feste the Clown and he happened to sing two songs in our scene. I decided to actually write music to the words, bring my guitar to class, and play and sing the songs just as the original actor would have done. One song was mostly a joke, but the other really struck me and, I think, turned out very pretty. It is a song of unrequited love sung on behalf of Duke Orsino. orsino's song

In high school, in ninth grade I believe, I wrote a poem for an English class assignment. The poem wasn't very good, but it received quite a bit of attention from the professor. I think he even sent it to a contest and it may have been published in something somewhere. Six years (!) later, I found the poem, put it to music, and recorded it with Sebastian at North Winton Village, and by that, of course, I mean on my computer in my bedroom at our house on Winton Road. I played guitar and sang. i doubt it does

I used to be very much into a band called Daniel Amos, and at one point, in 1999, members of the DADL (Daniel Amos Discussion List) began to put together a fan tribute album called Fearful Mimicry. That project got pushed aside for a parallel established artist tribute to DA, and now seems to have been almost completely forgotten. Regardless, this song was my contribution. note to anna
